The Idea

Dating scene reinvented to include real world scenarios. Traditionally people are used to finding their dates at bars, events, or simply through a friend or family. Wingr introduces this capability with the addition of your wingman or wingwoman. Now, you can stop swiping alone. With our reinvented dating app - Wingr, users can invite their friends and family to help them find compatible and meaningful connections.

We’ll refer to the single user as an Aces, the second user will be defined as a Wingr, they are an Ace’s close friend or family member ready to act as wingman or wingwoman. Aces can match directly with other aces and Wingrs can share profiles they think their Ace would like. Wingr is an engaging dating app, meant to invite the social aspect of dating.

Pain Points

Confidence

Confidence is key when in the dating world. Usually when at a bar or an event you have your trusty friends to boost your confidence to help you go spark up a conversation with someone new. With most dating apps you’re left to do it all on your own. None of your friends or family are there with you to break the ice.

Tone and mood

After finding a new match, keeping the conversion going is crucial to developing any type of relationship. Sometimes tone can get lost in translation, or maybe the joke just didn’t land. Then we’re left scrambling to find out where it went wrong. It’s a common occurrance that we find ourselves not really sure how someone meant to say what they said. This particular problem is the reason why 25% of conversations on dating apps just dwindle out.

Competitive analysis

As part of the competitive analysis, we dissect the competitions product analyzing their UI/UX, tech stack, and more. This allows us to capitalize on what the competition has done really well and where they can improve. In many cases, leading competitors have invested millions into R&D which is to our advantage if we can understand it. Here are some of findings while analyzing Bumble and Hinge. Two dating giants in the game.

Insight 1: Hinge displays user’s metadata in a clean and organized way so viewers can skim through the information.

Insight 2: Hinge asks profile enhancement questions which help spark meaningful conversation. It’s a great way to get to know someone on the surface before even matching. This increases user engagement as it gives users something to talk about.

Insight 3: Matching you with your preferred type is key to maintaining user engagement, retention and most importantly a good user experience. If people can’t find their “type” then they wont come back to use the app. Here, Bumble understands the need to filter for a specific type of people.
